Conflict Free Diamonds

We Carry Conflict-Free Diamonds for a Sparkling Conscience

We at forever equal understand that looking beautiful should never come at a terrible price. When you purchase a diamond from our website, you may rest assured that it does not come from a conflict zone. We do everything within our power to ensure that we do not sell “blood diamonds.”

Unfortunately, there are groups of people who have funded atrocious crimes against humanity through the sale of diamonds. These groups live in war-torn countries and either operate as insurgents or fund warlord activities. Hot zones for conflict diamonds have included Angola, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe. (Some of these countries have since joined the fight against conflict diamond trade.) These groups exploit men, women and children to mine diamonds, employing heinous methods of coercion, such as amputation, starvation, assault and murder. The movie “Blood Diamond” brought a lot of attention to this subject in 2006. Blood diamonds make up a small percentage of diamonds in the mainstream market, but it is certainly an issue that must be recognized in order to prevent human rights violations.

Worldwide steps have been taken to address this problem. The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (or KPCS) is a process, implemented in 2003 by the United Nations General Assembly, which aims to stop blood diamonds from being sold on the international market. The KPCS functions as a coalition of nations. Each nation agrees not to fund blood diamond mining and engages in a series of regulations and tracking methods to validate the purity of the diamonds produced or purchased by their citizens. The United States is a key figure in the movement and a member of KPCS along with 47 other countries. (forever equal is based in the diamond district of New York, New York.)
